Tetanus is an infectious disease transmitted when the Clostridium tetani bacillus enters open wounds. The signs of the disease are: muscle spasms throughout the entire body, lockjaw, paralysis of the respiratory muscles and even cessation of respiration. A tetanus antitoxin can be injected against the toxin produced by the tetanus bacterium. The disease can be prevented by immunization.
